We know this place doesn't believe in college but we’re begging the management team to take a history or statistics class. Generally women are discouraged to apply to STEM positions based on systematic oppression. They only hire women who will say 'yes' to everything management wants. *Women are seen as inferior.* The only reason they are starting to get women in leadership positions is because everyone is always telling them (secretly and out loud) that they're bigoted. Except as we’ve stated before: this place doesn’t understand logic. There’s a clear and logical limit to that. It's helpful to have connections but connections can't get you everywhere. We could name names but if you work here then you’ll figure it out. There’s nothing innovative about this place and it's not a startup anymore.
They pretend the environment is like an “innovative startup” as an excuse to cut corners. Everything is changing at a pace that is not normal and without any true direction. This fake and fear based culture they parade around is damaging and they don’t believe in implementing real processes. We've experienced the COO walking around yelling about positivity but doesn't notice how everyone rolls their eyes when he walks off. We've experienced him reading blog posts on subjects he didn't even know existed and acting as an expert when there are real experts in the organization who’ve practiced their craft for years. He's the biggest champion of nepotism we’ve ever seen. *Everyone in management, and we mean everyone, has 2 brain cells shared between all of them.* The CEO thinks he's cool and forward thinking but won't let any of the experts do their jobs. If you're a straight shooter who likes to get things done and be rewarded for making the tough, but right choices, you'll probably want to pass on this. If you're a gambler that likes to play psychological games, you will do well. That type of environment will create behavioral patterns and perspectives that can make you a terrible person to work with in the future.įor someone hoping to join an established company and work their way into management - it's going to be hard. Many of the younger employees thrived because they were rewarded for non-empathetically throwing their teammates under the bus. The company values "failing fast" but doesn't seem to appreciate that without taking time to learn from failure, the same mistakes will be made over and over.įor someone looking for an internship or post-college job, I hesitate to recommend this company for the sole reason that you will be developing very bad habits. Those who dare voice their concerns or attempt to improve the company risk their job. This creates a culture where the primary source of actual knowledge is through gossip, and trust of management is essentially non-existent. Though one is to be "direct and honest" in communication, issues within the company are swept under the rug or hushed. Unfortunately, the company tenets are not actually upheld. Its company tenets are great, and posted on nearly every wall in the building. It's trying its hardest to emulate the San Francisco start-up vibe in Eugene. It has good benefits, a lavish building, catering, standing desks, and more toys than one can imagine.
